This week we explore the kingship of Abimelech, son of Gideon, over the nation of Israel, and we discuss how the violence of his reign is reversed in the kingship of Jesus. We discuss how role of women in the book of Judges highlights the proper role of women within God’s kingdom and how violence against women is counter to God’s desires. Most interestingly, we see how the themes of sonship, submission to the Father’s will, and love for family are woven throughout the Bible.
