Rebekah attempts to “help God” (and we all know that’s a bad idea) by tricking Isaac into thinking Jacob is Esau. Jacob runs for his life and to find a wife at his uncle Laban’s house, and he finds God at Bethel. We discuss the importance of vision in Jacob’s story, the importance of “the place” or “ha-Maqom” in Scripture, and how the story of Jacob’s Ladder ties into several Biblical accounts.
