Joseph Moves the Family to Goshen - Faith and Other Oddities Episode 34
Joseph reveals his true identity after being broken by Judah’s speech about their father, and the brothers reconcile. Joseph’s speech reveals that he is still having ego problems as he proclaims himself to be the “father of Pharaoh” and settles his brothers in Goshen despite Pharaoh’s orders. God speaks for the last time before his appearance to Moses. Judah goes ahead of the family into Goshen to point the way, and in doing so continues to foreshadow the events of the New Testament. The narrative is changing to include all the sons instead of just the one of previous generations. Joseph is manipulates the situation to protect the family by appealing to the Egyptian idea that shepherds were abhorrent and we discuss different possible reasons for that view. Pharaoh quizzes Jacob about his lifespan in an attempt to determine how blessed Jacob might be.
