Seer Testimony: Being Afraid of the Holy

Here's another guest post from my friend Jake (not the same Jake who runs the Seek4Truth show I've been on), who sees clearly in the spirit realm. This is another good one... challenging and thought provoking:

Being Afraid of the Holy

Voice: So Jake how ya doing tonight man?Me: I’m okay I guess, just need some time to figure a few things out that’s all.Voice: What things?Me: Just, stuff you wouldn’t understand.Voice: Well your right brother, I won’t understand unless you tell me…Me: You have such a way with words don’t you?Voice: I have my ways. Now what’s going on…? Really?Me: I just keep having these dreams. Bad dreams… nightmares. (Night terrors.) I know they’re not from God but I just keep on trying to figure out why I am having them.Voice: You don’t say… What do you think they could be?Me: I really don’t know. I have this one that keeps coming back and I can’t sleep at all some nights because it’s so intense.Voice: Have you tried praying about?Me: Are you kidding me? YES!!!! It literally won’t go away though. It gets stronger when I pray. Almost as if it is from God with a hidden meaning. It’s scary though.Voice: Sometimes the truth can be scary.Me: Wait. Truth? What truth? Wait… Who are you? What are? Why do I feel cold? Please, stop… Answer me!!!!!!!!!Then I woke up. I shot bolt upright in my bed!  Why do I keep having these terrors, these conversations with, something… obviously supernatural? Still dazing with a little bit of fear I laid my head back down and began, as I do many times, just thinking and sifting through what has happened in the dream and why it was so real feeling.Dreams are in our mind, pain is in our minds. Our minds control what we see, and or feel. So why is it, in dreams, my feelings and senses are raised and I am extra sensitive to fear? Being, “Afraid,” is never something that has really fazed me before. I don’t get afraid, or differently put. It takes something extremely powerful to make me afraid. For example, I have experienced real life events, I have seen things some people couldn’t even imagine accept in their most terrifying nightmares, I have sensed things in the air that aren’t bats or birds, I have been talked to by spirits before but never touched. None of those things scared me. Why? Because those things were evil things, and as a child of God I know those evil things, the spirits, the demons, whatever you want to refer or call them, cannot touch me. They CAN NOT harm me in any way.Now here’s the split side to this. I was afraid to the point of tears one time. (Well actually many times.) I saw an angel one time and it brought me to my knees. My lower back went numb, the hairs on my neck stood completely straight, I lost words and I couldn’t close my eyes. Now why is it that I am not afraid of the evil, and I am afraid of the holy? The answer is in the question. Angels are holy. These guys have been with Jesus; they have been with God. They hang out with God in his Presence. This blows me away!!! I want to hang out with Jesus. We are talking about the power of Jesus Christ submerging these huge angels and then those angels that are submerged in God’s Presence coming down to a little man. That’s enough to make a giant afraid. But why does the fear come? If I shouldn’t be afraid of this thing why am I? You see, the power of God is something that we as mere humans cannot begin to describe or know. We cannot see the face of God and live.fear holy02

Exodus 30: Meeting God on the Mountain

As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the LORD spoke with Moses. 10. Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped each at the entrance to his tent. 11. The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent. 12.Moses said to the LORD, "You have been telling me, `Lead these people,' but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, `I know you by name and you have found favor with me.' 13. If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people." 14.The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."15. Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?"17. And the LORD said to Moses, "I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name."18. Then Moses said, "Now show me your glory."19. And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20. But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." 21. Then the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen."

God was adamant that His face must not be seen. This scripture goes on the say that Moses’ face was as bright as the sun from just being exposed to God’s Back. So being afraid of an angel is not a bad thing. The fear that I had was a righteous fear. A good fear for better sense of meaning. Being afraid of something so mighty and powerful is normal. Look in chapter 2 of Luke.

Luke 2:8-12

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

See how the angel addressed the fear directly? I’m sure he already knew they would be afraid. He addressed it first, “Do not be afraid.” For he was not a messenger of bad, but of good tidings. The Bible is full of stories and truths about this subject. The dream I had that I opened with in this post was to show a little bit of what I go through. That’s a normal thing for me to wake up to at night.I’m not afraid of it, just dazed and confused sometimes. But God is faithful and I know for a fact He has a plan for me!
